Green HSE, a student environmental club, is taking part in the upcoming Moscow Flower Show, an international festival of gardens and flowers. As part of the HSE project ‘A University Open to the City’, students will give a presentation on mini parks, the goal of which is to revitalize one of Moscow’s abandoned mini parks or courtyards.
In the middle of spring, battery collection boxes were placed in all buildings at HSE Nizhny Novgorod thanks to the initiative of HSE students. Over 50 kilograms of used batteries were collected. It is well-known that the heavy metals in one discarded AA battery can pollute about 20 square meters of land. Thus the campaign ‘The Battle of Batteries’ helped to save a forest area the size of 40 sports stadiums.
In Nizhny Novgorod, battery collection boxes can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Today, thanks to the initiative shown by HSE students, there are four more boxes.
All right, to think about the environment on April 22 is not that difficult, but how about doing something good for the planet? On April 22 and 23, Green HSE movement stands will be open in five HSE buildings: on Myasnitskaya, Shabolovka, Malaya Ordynka, Staraya Basmannaya, and Khitrovsky Pereulok. At each of these stands, you’ll be able to leave your old electronic devices (of any kind, from cell phones and their chargers, to mixers and printers), and get a tasty reward in exchange for them. Electronic devices will continue to be collected until April 24.
